Where we are

Mid-way between the Channel ports and the Spanish border, we are some 30 minutes from Cognac and Angoulême, 40 minutes from the sea and within an hour of Bordeaux and its vineyards.There are several airports, including 4 low cost ones, nearby. The TGV from Paris and the UK serves Angoulême. We will collect and return guests to these by arrangement.

Within 100 miles there are enough unique and wonderful places to visit to merit a stay of at least a week. We can advise in detail about visiting them. For example:

• The Dordogne with its prehistory, medieval Chateaux, historic bastides and villages and its gastronomy
• The Grands Crus of the Bordeaux wine region: St Emilion, Pomerol, Medoc, Sauternes, Graves etc.
• Bordeaux and the estuary of the Gironde with sites unknown except to locals; Caviar at St Ciers, Lampreys at Mortagne, the fishing village of Talmont
• The beaches of Royan, the superb zoo at La Palmyre
• La Rochelle, the oyster beds of Marennes and the Ile d’Oleron
• The mysterious ’Venise Verte’ (Green Venice) of the Marais Poitevin canals
• Cognac, its vineyards and famous brandy houses, the Romanesque churches of Charente and the festivals at Angoulême.
