MGC Roadster
This is the MGB with added muscle and grunt. In 1967 the then British Motor Corporation startled the motoring world by discontinuing the Austin Healey 3000 and apparently substituting the MGC which closely resembles the MGB, but with the same capacity 3 litre engine as the renowned Big Healey. As with many of BMC's other product launches that followed, this wasn’t one of the great successes and the model only lasted 2 years.
None of which is at all fair to the car as any current MGC owner will testify. The proof is how attached they are to these cars and I have owned this example for 30 years! Once again you have to drive it some distance to understand and enjoy it properly, as the MGC is a great touring car with a very smooth and silky 6 cylinder engine plus long legged overdrive - and much better ride comfort than the MGB.
Comments regarding practicality are much as for the MGB and interestingly the 'C' uses very little more fuel out on the open road, because of its high gearing and under stressed engine. The classic looks of the 1968 era are a further advantage.
