Seen by some as a Cinderella in the pantheon of fast and sexy sports cars produced by the firm founded and inspired by Colin Chapman, the ’modern“ Elan has plenty still going for it today. It has the Lotus virtues of small size, extremely fluid and nimble handling combined with excellent roadholding; together with a good power to weight ratio giving sparkling performance, all making for really fun driving characteristics. Yet this is managed without excessive fuel consumption – on the contrary – or any ostentation, and with all modern comforts.

Actually we find it hard to think of anything that much improves its particular combination of classic pedigree allied to practicality.
